Get along 03:23
Always ready with an opinion And a smug expression on your face. You think you have all the answers But there was never any question in the first place. It's a pain to entertain this kind of insane draining brain race. Isn't all we're really doing just shooting the breeze and making a trace? We all just got to get along. We all just got to get along. Can't put the world to rights Or stop the fights, barely make an impression. Why'd I even write this song To bang my gong or learn a lesson? The muse who shoots his own foot with his lute, Release is the fruit, it's all for the sake of expression. If my sound bounces off your wall, Is it just a kind of confession? We all just got to get along. We all just got to get along. etc.

Burning 05:35
The light is streaming in, Giving life. Burning in my heart. Burning in my heart. The sun is rising up, Turning the sky red. Burning in my heart. Burning in my heart. etc.

Listen 02:57
When I put a record on, I have to stop the voice inside my head Long enough to hear what's said. Maybe I would hear a thing or two That would make me stroke my beard and sit right down, Make me smile and make me frown. Listen! Listen! Listen! Listen to words, You might miss something. Once a long long time ago, An old man sang a message in a song For his children when he's gone. For they did not know him long. When, one day, they found a tape, Fascinating music there they heard. But they did not hear a word, No, they did not hear a word. Listen! Listen! Listen! Listen to words, You might miss something.

When she was a little child, They overlooked whatever she achieved. Rarely, they remembered her name, Only ever saw what they believed. She danced she the dark etc. No one seemed to see who he was, No one seemed to give him any room (to be), No one discovered his love, So he hid away in the gloom And he danced in the dark etc. A world that couldn't recognise What's in her heart and in her eyes, Leaves no room for her. The decisions that they take And the assumptions that they make Left no room for him.

If you lay awake last night Thinking of another song to write, You can depend on our pigeon friend. Sitting in his favourite tree, 'cause that's where he always likes to be, You can depend on our pigeon friend To sing this song... If you want to run and hide 'cause your toast fell on the buttered side, You can depend on our pigeon friend. If there's housework to be done And it doesn't really seem like fun, You can depend on our pigeon friend To sing this song... If a lorry's in the road, Blocked your driveway so you cannot load, You can depend on our pigeon friend. Be it dull or be it fine, If rain soaked the laundry on the line, You can depend on our pigeon friend To sing this song... He repeats his song, Which doesn't last long And ends on just one Note. etc.

Have to keep on going, Rolling along, you only have to trust. Like a river, flowing, Fast as you may, as slow as you must. Slowly wear the boulders down Or get around them. But it's OK to feel impatient and frustrated, When it's real. (repeat). Did I dump my load along the way, Or am I still full of it today? New lamps for old. The genie's out of the bottle so I'm told. Why would falling leaves make me sad? They're only old skin making way for new.

Her eyes are shining bright, Her back curves sinuously against my hand, She sleeps all day and prefers the night, Her tongue has a raspy texture like wet sandpaper. She's a furry faced, purry breather! She loves margarine, But she prefers milk, butter and cream, She thinks she is the Queen, She may well be. She sits on the newspaper so it can't be read. She steals food from her own bowl to eat it elsewhere. She scrupulously ignores her special bed And covers my chair with a layer of her hair instead. She's a furry faced, purry breather! etc. She likes to chase mice, birds and things, To carry them in through the back door, Leaves once twitchy noses and feathery wings, Gruesome gifts lying motionless on the kitchen floor for you. She's a furry faced, purry breather! etc.

Twenty days 03:15
The winter nights are closing in And the frost entombs the land. Love, two thousand miles away. I can only wish and dream to hold your hand. Perhaps next year, we finally shall live Hand in hand, our destiny to share. First, the law we must surmount. So until that time, we'll love across the air. In twenty days, I'll travel through the sky To be with you amid the winter snow. But love, when three short weeks have passed, To the lonely shores of England I must go.
